I started out in Ontario working with horses for many years and tinkered a bit in the art of photographing. I began working on a reining horse breeding, and training farm. We needed new photos of our horses each year so I always assisted the photographer when that time arrived. After a couple of years the photographer became very ill and could not continue his career. So, I decided to try my hand at capturing photos for our farm website. Little did I know how much was actually involved in taking a photo. I slowly began to better my photos teaching myself a little at a time for the next couple of years.
Eventually my equine career was coming to an end and I needed to figure out what my new calling was. I had been working with horses for so long I was lost. What would I do that I would enjoy even half as much as horses? I set my camera down for a few years, took the odd horse photo here and there but never thought I could REALLY do it. (I felt I didn't know enough). I found a customer service job for about a year, then moved on to a better paying job behind a desk, then moved to an even higher paying job behind another desk and found I was miserable! I knew I loved animals and wanted to do my part in working to help the homeless pets so I was hired into a Humane Society. LOVED it but after a while my poor broken body became absolutely exhausted physically and it is emotionally pressing with highs and lows of the animals housed there.
However I was getting closer to my calling! They let me take a few photos in the shelter but not as much as I wanted. I had to leave that job because I was physically and mentally tired from it. I knew I had to stay in customer service, keep animals in my life and I was beginning to love photography again. I ended up at a grocery store all the while educating myself to take better and better photos. as well as trying to figure out how I could piece together my love for animals and the want to help people care for them AND take their furry soul mates photos.
I am so very very happy to be in the place I am in! I am based in Turner Valley Alberta working at a PetValu AND photographing for rescues.
Donating Photo Sessions to raise money for rescues, small photo shoots at the store to raise funds and being able to meet so many amazing people with their amazing pets. Helping those clients and customers with the nutritional needs to fitting a collar, then photographing their best fur buddies!
I am in my heaven!
My journey has been long, bumpy, emotional and exhausting at times but I wouldn't change a thing because I have never been so
grateful, thankful, loving and so happy in my entire life!
I am honoured and excited to meet and photograph you and your beautiful, cuddly, shy, playful, gorgeous
Canine, Feline and Equine soul mates!
I am loving life and what I do!
